Physics!
It seems that as of late the thriving community of
ChaosUT has kinda died down, so to try and get some conversation going, I have a question for you all. What cool things do you hope to see chaos do with physics in UT2007?
I think it'd be cool to be able to shoot guns out of people's hands, and to be able to blend ragdoll animation with normal animations for realistic kicks and whatnot.

I can assure you that I am perfectly sane.

Oy vey.
Snipers with their one-hit kills are bad enough. We don't need some camping whores* shooting your weapon out of your hand to completely decimate any chance of you fighting back.
*: No offense to any camping whores, er, I mean, "snipers" out there. You know I love you all--without you, no game would really be complete! :D

Most people who crib about snipers are the ones who stand around, waiting to be head-shotted and then complain about lag...TerminusEst13 wrote:Oy vey.

try plkaying cs with an entire camp snipign (Ts) on dust and youll see what i mean. slows gameplay totally...:/
Not to disagree but I think camping its totally needed at times. For example if you playing CS and you drop the bomb carrier, then isn't a smart thing to camp at the bomb in that case? And on the dust map, let them camp, they have to come through the hallway or under the bridge sooner or later to get to the bomb sites. Granted it slows the game down but since I die normally 15.3 seconds into a CS round (as i tend to be the lead rusher) then a little slower may not be a bad idea

But yea it does slow the game way down...

Camping is excusable in some games when you consider that the alternative pretty much amounts to insane suicide rushing which gets old fast. That said, its very slightly the lesser of two evils and always annoying. This is why I think people get so irritated at CS. If you camp, you can do well as long as your aim is good, but then the game is slow and rather annoying, but if you just run around and try to kill people, you'll likely get killed before you kill anyone, and then its just really irriatating.
At least with Chaos, there are ways to deal with snipers as long as you're quick and smart about it. Plus, our sniper rifle requires much more skill to use than any other sniper rifle in any other game that I know of.

Indeed. I must say I actually like, that sniper bullets are slower in CUT... Adds more to the game balance, because you also have to assume the movement of the player and the shot location (if not using enhanched vision mode).Shadowstar wrote:...Plus, our sniper rifle requires much more skill to use than any other sniper rifle in any other game that I know of.

GO TO RED TEXT FOR SUMMARY OF BELOW IF YOU ARE LAZY.
Camping is a method of warfare. It is not cheap or cowardly. On the contrary, it is smart and tactical. I mean, this is a gun fight. The winners are not the guys who are 'tough' or 'brave' but the ones who use their brains. When you have range and accuracy, you use it. Campers do this by staying in one place and sniping. In reality, snipers are the best type of infantry available. Ask anyone in the army/navy/airforce. The elite infantry divisions are most of the time sniper divisions. Snipers who camp.
In games, camping is the smartest defence and/or offence tactic. Range and accuracy are the winners of any skirmish. The flak cannon in UT is a good gun but only at close range. The sniper rifle is infinitely better as it can get an instant kill at any range if weilded well. Also, making it harder to snipe (Non-instant-hit bullets in the CUTSR) is not a game-balancer. It spoils the game, IMHO.
As I said earlier, most of the people who crib about snipers are the ones who run in with guns blazing and get picked off with ease.
IN CONCLUSION: SNIPERS RULE!!!

Now tell me what's UT2004 got to do with army/navy/airforce???lord_kungai wrote:Ask anyone in the army/navy/airforce. The elite infantry divisions are most of the time sniper divisions. Snipers who camp.
Suuuuure, now try shooting someone in the head in a map with small corridors, while he's jumping around and shooting you with flak...lord_kungai wrote: The flak cannon in UT is a good gun but only at close range. *Me smell roasted meat*
You been on UT2004 offical forums? Most people don't like the classic sniper rifle returning...lord_kungai wrote: Also, making it harder to snipe (Non-instant-hit bullets in the CUTSR) is not a game-balancer. It spoils the game, IMHO.
Now tell me anoter way to get the flag in CTF-FaceClassic... Or another map, where sniper rifle is harder to get... (Which means no counterattacks to snipers, who DO get it)lord_kungai wrote: As I said earlier, most of the people who crib about snipers are the ones who run in with guns blazing and get picked off with ease.
