One of the reasons I've never uploaded a map to the online community is because I've had lots of trouble learning how to use the File Transfer Protocal.
After I registered with NC, they give you the FTP info, but I'm not sure what to do with it. Do I need GoLive, or some other web site program to connect to FTP servers for uploading, or am I just missing something?
If you can help me, then please explain as if your speaking to a 10 year old (I'm not 10, but I've never done this before, so please bare with me.).
Thanks in advance.

Good O'l FTP. It was one of the reasons we have the internet today
yes you should get another 3dparty FTP program. There are a lot out there some for free, some shareware others you have to buy. Which is right for you depends on you, your needs and you pocket book
Windows9x and up has a built in FTP client so you dont need one. However its a command line only so you will have to know the syntax. For your first time I would suggest another program. Two very common ones are CuteFTP and WSFTP (but like I said there are a ton more).
Once you get the ftp program installed you will need to create an ftp profile, session, login, bookmark, what ever that FTP program calls it. You will have to look to your programs help as each FTP program will be slighly different.
But you will enter in the ftp address:
ftp.nalicity.com (just an example as it could also be www.nalitycity.com or 123.34.5.71)
Then your user name
kodiak
and password
********
save this so you wont have to repeate these steps each time (again see that programs help if you can not figure it out).
You may have to change to an incoming, upload or public directory (again see the Directions from Nalicity on where to put the file). Once your in the right place then you can litterly drag and drop the file to that window. Again look at the docementation as some FTP programs are just like winows explorer while others have their own look and feel.
Now this may sound hard but once you do it, it will become very easy and you wont have to think about it. Search the web as I have seen in the paste many web pages with better directions and more info than you will every want to know about FTP-ing
Enjoy!

Wincommander
Got a 15 year old program called Wincommander, I still use it because it is an awesome ftp proggy.
You can setup the ftp and open it in the right window while using the left window for the transfer directory.
Also comes with the zip programs built right in for almost all the most popular zip formats.
I also use it a lot because it will treat any quake pak file from any version to let you right in and move stuff around just like a zip file.
very handy for pakfile building for mappers.
Sad thing is I am not sure where to get it anymore, i am sure though that it is free...
