If you check the archives I am sure there was a thread in which Shadowstar first unleashed his tractor beam plans on the world.
Ok, not to pick on any one person, but once again I felt compelled to make a point. The same point being made in this interview with Cliffyb, when asked about 'an idea'.

Q: I don't want to make a zillion dollars, but I DO want credit for it and some green. Mostly, I want to see this idea come to life. I don't even know what it would take to pitch the game. So what can I do? -- Tom
A: Ah, the most commonly asked question in the business. Look, I'll just give it to you straight. Odds are your idea is probably already being worked on by someone or there's a technical or financial reason why it hasn't been done yet. (<-- Cliffyb's response of course)

And in today's Chaos-related example, I want to show a couple of scribbles by my friend Spa (posted here today w/o permission, btw), which were originally posted in our dev forums at least as early as Sept. 29, 2002.

The thread was started by Spa about possible new link gun features. He's showing an idea about a player using a
possible new feature of link gun which grabs and holds players, in 2nd sketch showing how maybe it could be used by pulling players off of a ledge.
And please, this is not trying to pick on anyone, or brag about "firsties". Simply to remind you that it's difficult to claim an idea as original.
Same thing comes to mind when I see mod teams, or potential mod teams, out there complaining that Epic (or maybe another mod team) stole 'their idea' that they posted on some forums somewhere.
Certainly folks are out there coming up with these things on their own, and it shows creativity. But this is not about stealing ideas. Only saying that coming up with it on your own, doesn't mean it's original.
These comments are mine alone, but IMO please keep the ideas coming, I know I enjoy reading them. But also keep this post in mind if you see something in later Chaos versions that were at least similar to things discussed here.
Because while there are many creative folks that have posted here (and that rocks!), just please don't forget that Mr. Spa and the rest of Chaos team have been at this for awhile as well. We just don't usually do it in the public forums.
