It should have the final set of weapon tweaks needed for melee. All known bugs were squished. Just need to tweak the axe models and get one update to the claw model then it should be GTG.
I take it you never played the Thievery mod for UT1? That was basically multiplayer Thief... And loads of fun too. There were two teams: guards and thieves. Each team had its own objectives. Guards usually had to make sure stuff didn't get stolen, thieves had to steal it. Guards were big and tough with heavy weapons, traps, and alarm devices, and thieves were light and fast, and could become invisible in shadows. Plus they had all kinds of cool tools to use to sneak around, pick locks, and KO guards that were'nt paying enough attention.
Basically, if you were on the Guard team, and you were stupid (or a newbie) you'd meet a quick end.
What it came down to was that the smart guards would stick to well-lit areas (walking around in the dark was just BEGGING to get raped), and lay traps in objective areas. But even so, it was all about skill since a good, smart thief could defeat a good guard, no matter how well they were set up, at least on the better maps anyway. So far, it's the only multiplayer game I've ever seen that emphasizes intelligence over twitch factor to such a high degree.
Pretty sweet mod too, very original. It's probably still running though I've had way too much lag trying to play the latest version. Anyway, if you want a link I can give you one. It's a UT1 mod, so you'll still need UT1. There is a rumor there was a UT2003 mod project started but I don't know if it went anywhere or is still in development. Anyway, I'm anxious to see Thief 3. Apparently, instead of levels, the entire game takes place in a dynamic cityscape. Instead of having a linear progression through missions, you can travel around the city and choose which mansions and buildings you want to break into and stuff... Pretty interesting idea. Hopefully they can pull it off. The demo's I've seen look pretty awesome.
